Utopia 2020 Update

It is with a heavy heart that we must announce that Utopia will be postponed until June next year. We had hoped, in line with the government’s original plans to reintroduce indoor conferencing from October, to be in a position to host our annual event at our new home in Wyboston this November. We had discussed this in detail with the venue, who were fully supportive on providing more space and safety measures, but with no fixed date for indoor trialling now the reality, and the Utopia ship an almighty behemoth to steer into harbour, the best option open to us is to reschedule for next Summer.

This year has been a difficult one for Fantom, as it has been for many of you. We have battled against uncertainty with events, and the insolvency of our book distributor, both of which have taken a huge toll on what is a small, independent company. Whilst we have had many months where we haven’t been able to see you all in person, we were able to bring the convention to your homes, for free, with hours of virtual Doctor Who interviews and special features through our Time Space Visualiser. We are very proud of this, and the work our team put into it, and hope that it helped to keep spirits high through some darkened days.

Whilst it might a few months before we can play Room 101 with Camille Coduri, wrap Wendy Padbury in bubble wrap for evening entertainment, or guess which train Katy Manning is on, we are at present back at our socially distanced home in Chiswick, where we shall hopefully be able to give some of you a wave from under our visors!

I have a ticket for Utopia. What happens next?

Your ticket (and hotel reservation will be automatically transferred to next year). If you wish to receive a refund this is possible, however there will be a processing fee and time limit.

You have until 15th October 2020 to apply for your refund; as the original PayPal costs are non-refundable and there is a cost in transferring the money back to you, this charge is a necessity and one which Fantom does not benefit from. Please email us, with the subject heading ‘Utopia Refund’ and include your receipt number in the body of the email. It may take us a few days to respond.
